Minie's honest reviews: Riize's Talk Saxy
youtube
Song: 8/10 It's actually so good?!?! I didn't expect this. It's really really catchy (but so were Get A Guitar, Memories, etc.) The chorus isn't really my favourite part and the whole 'Talk Saxy' line is kind of cringey even with the pun aspect
Concept: 6/10 It was kind of generic? Kind of reminds me of Skz Maniac and Enhypen's Future Perfect street-smart concept. It was very visually appealing though
MV: 7/10 The setting was nice actually, the backdrops were nice, I really liked the lights and the room full of speakers. The lighting was well done
Line distribution: 8/10 The line distribution looks pretty even, although Wonbin and Shotaro are a little ahead of the rest of the members, as they were during Get a Guitar
Choreography: 7.5/10 It's energetic but not at the same time, I think they executed it pretty well. Doesn't look too hard to learn, so maybe this will be the next dance your resident Wonhyuk stan takes up :)
Outfits: 7/10 They're actually pretty cohesive, I like the red and black looks most of all. There's nothing particularly ugly, which is good! But please next comeback avoid the baseball caps please
Sohee: 8/10 I don't stan Riize yet, but lil floof Sohee has caught my eye just in case. I really like his look in this MV, almost more than in Get a Guitar. The hairstylist really did a good job
Overall enjoyment: 8/10 It's actually pretty good, I really liked the flow and it's super catchy yet chill at the same time
*Note: If there is any release, new or old, K-Pop or K-Band, that you would like me to review, please leave a comment (or DM me that works too)~

Circles of Heaven
Circles of Heaven, Eustace Selden, 1998
Circles of Heaven (CoH) started off as a hard rebound against the Satanic Panic - by an evangelical kid. The goal was to make an RPG that would be considered holy. This... did not happen.
The author did his first writing when he was 14, which beats me by a year. Unlike me, he was raised in... well, a cult. The first version of CoH was about playing angels, but it was also full of proto-quiverfull eschatological heaven-justifies-the-means propaganda. By the time he was 17, his friends had successfully pulled him out of the cult and gotten him living with distant relatives in Tacoma. The author's changing worldview, the evolving music scene, some bootleg anime, and suggestions from the same friends - seriously, this friend group is fantastic - led to a major revision of the game. It was published locally in 1998, printed by a local shop and driven around to game stores and bookstores until they found some that would sell it.
Chargen is mostly random. You pick your Nobility and Corpus. Nobility is your rank, which doesn't let you order each other around but does apply to certain creatures. For example, Archdukes can give orders to insects; a Prince or Princess of Heaven can give orders to mammals (except humans). You get some alliterative skills related to your type of creature - Archdukes get bonuses to Clandestine, Collective, and Contaminate.
Corpus is your body, and I think it's a particularly fun part of the game. Characters in CoH are angels. They're not traditional biblical angels, because the bible is secretly the work of Satan - full of half-truths more dangerous than outright lies. Instead, they're inspired by the weirdest of monsters: adlets, nuckelavee, ouroboros, futakuchi-onna, penanggalan, and a several others. You are both a human being and your monster self at the same time. You can do things that either form could do, or even things that would need both a monster and a human in the same place at the same time, and it doesn't have to make sense to see.
You roll for your Hunt (the kind of people you're here on Earth to help or punish, gives skill bonuses), your Time (the hour each day where you have extra-special powers), your Vision (how you think the world could be made ideal, gives you more skill bonuses), and your Ruling Virtues. Oh, and your attributes. Those are done on a 5-15 scale generated from a d100 table. I did say this game was written in the early 90s.
You also roll for your equipment. Not boring mortal stuff, but for a wide variety of sacred items that you hold in potentia near you and can manifest at need. Shields of fire. Shadow citadels that can hide you overnight. Flocks of stained-glass butterflies that provide cover and distracting fascination. Daybreak, the mace made of pure sunlight. Nullblades that wield themselves and absorb bullets and magic alike. Fatehook, a crochet hook that can re-knot the fabric of the world - slow to use but flexible and devastating.
The system is mediocre. It's basically a heavily-stripped-down Rolemaster, with no critical hits or spell lists. If you can't come up with anything from Rolemaster that isn't the critical hits table, you're not alone. CoH's system sort of slid into my brain and slid right back out without making an impression.
The place the game is really lacking is art. Most of it is from early otaku who loved anime but had never taken an art class. The best of it turned out to be traced from manga. The cover was a black-and-white ouroboros on a white background, which, while still not particularly well-drawn, was at least striking on the shelf.
Eustace eventually moved on. In an interview in 2012 he said that writing the game was a cathartic experience for him, helping him understand where he came from and embrace where he was going. Once it was out, he didn't feel the need to keep writing. I hope he finds a creative spark again some day - I think a shorter version (with better art) would fit well with games like Mörk Borg and Songbirds.

Based on your post @sassyassblog 😁:
Tumblr media
P.S. I'm using the MonsterVerse Kaijus as humans since this is also from my GenAU MV Edition. So no worries.
Here's the scenario:
"Man..." thought Godzilla as he walked tiredly towards his mansion, "I need a quick nap..."
Turning around making sure no one was sneaking at him, he knelt down to the front door and snag a key he secretly kept from a carpet. He opened the door and enter before closing it shut.
The man took off his shoes and socks before putting it on a casket beside the door. His darkish black to navy blue hair is in mess due to the extreme heat back from where he work at a city and also in due course of his job. As usual, he often comes late at home since his wife, Mothra, usually is first to arrived home shortly before himself.
Still, she's not here, so maybe Godzilla need an extra free range of their cozy house. Once his wife arrived home, he smirked at the deal that he told her a few days ago.
He needs to arrange a few things.
It was already 5:15 PM, Godzilla thought about his best friends. Most likely, Rodan, Anguirus and Kong were sometimes having a sleepover with him (which Mothra denies it for their unruly manners, something that Godzilla feared for her anger), only for 2 days. Or even a week if there's an activity going around the mansion he and Mothra owned. Currently, Rodan had finally found a job as a chef from a local restaurant, Anguirus deliberately needed to pass an exam to be a history teacher, and Kong...well...he's still a policeman and work tirelessly to earn some savings for his adoptive deaf daughter Jia and her adoptive mother Ilene Andrews.
Success earns hardwork and support, that's something Mothra - yes, she is a science and art teacher - reminded them for their lives.
Anyway, just as Godzilla was about to head upstairs...
"LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKK AT ME~"
He jumped from a sudden breakout of a familiar voice that scared the shit of his pants. Well, whoever broke in to his home without permission shall get the beat out of their shit in no mercy, he swore it.
Instantly, the man heard a sound of a running water coming across the bathroom (the door was practically open slightly). Carefully not to make any noise, Godzilla tiptoed from the source, only for his eyes scanned from something he just ever seen in the entire motherfucking world.
"WHAT THE FU-"
"TELL ME WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATT YOU SEE~"
Standing in the middle of a shower is none other than RODAN!
By the looks of it, his back was on a curtains, showering by himself, and practically naked (well, half naked to be exact). The fiery red haired Mexican man didn't seem to bother that Godzilla was there peeping. In his hand was a brush used to scrub on a skin, preferrably the ones that Mothra used it.
Damn, of all places...
"AM I GOOOOOOOOOOOOOODD OR BAD~"
Godzilla had never been slack-jawed of how fucking awesome Rodan's singing voice is. I mean, he had seen Rodan singing crazily after drinking a shot too much back from their old times sake, which he and even Kong dragged him all because of his violent manner after having a fight with some unwanted men from a bar. But this one...
"Woah..." Godzilla breathed, "Rody's not so bad with that voice, I bet some girls would swoon over him if he was a celebrity."
"DON'T YOU JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDGGEE SO FAST~"
But as Rodan twirled around...
"Hey, hey, hey-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Rodan let out a mightiest girlish scream of the entire mansion, almost shook off the ass out of his confidence. His eyes wide as dinner plates when he saw Godzilla on the door peeping, who was indeed startled by the redhaired man's scream.
Knowing he is caught red-handed, and indeed naked, he covered himself with his arms and hands, purposely snagged a towel beside the sink and wrapped it around his waist, before marching towards Godzilla and slammed the door shut.
"What was that for, Rodan?!" Godzilla growled.
"Like indeed you are peeping me without knocking!" Rodan bites back.
"Oh really? Then you should've closed it before your bird-brain of yours!"
"You just entered my-our own house without texting me?!" Godzilla said angrily, "You know what happens when Mothra finds out just like what happened to you and Ghidorah!"
"That's in the past now, we'll never do it again! I promised!"
"Then what are you fucking doing here?!"
Rodan slowly opens the door with a dull expression...
"...I'm running out of water back from my apartment and I haven't pay a rent so..." He gave him a puppy eyes.
Oh great. Just fucking great.
Rodan had barely payed a rent just to avoid himself kicked out by the landowner. Many times, he would got himself into trouble, and Godzilla and Kong even needed to bail him out because of that.
Godzilla sighed heavily, massaging his temples just to avoid 10 times headache and all.
"Okay, fine! I'll gave you a cash."
Rodan beamed.
"But! I'm not taking any chances! You need to worked harder, and you're already hired as a chef. I'm counting on you, Rody."
"Gracias mi mejor amigo."
"Now hurry up before Mothra finds out and gonna beat you out of your daylights."
"Okay!"
"BTW, Rodan..." Godzilla leaned over the wall, "I didn't know you have a wonderful singing voice."
"R-Really?"
"Yeah, good thing nobody would notice your quite voice and good looks..."
"And that you are indeed a good singer."
Godzilla and Rodan are startled by another voice, because that voice was no other than Godzilla's wife and His Queen, Mothra.
Sweat trickled down their foreheads, seeing the expression of the white-haired woman...
"Now..."
Oh boy.....
Outside, infinite babblings and pleading were heard followed by a loud smack as Godzilla and Rodan are deserved to be punished.
But at the same time, Mothra quitely likes the singing voice of the red-haired man, but hated the fact that Rodan dared to enter their house without permission.
Lesson learned, Rodan, the Fire Demon.
~✦~
From @adm-starblitzsteel-4305
Also, the song Rodan sang in the bathroom was titled "Good Tonight" by Daniel Pemberton and Anthony Ramos from the movie The Bad Guys.
Also, my MV Rodan's voice actor is Anthony Ramos. I thought that would be fun since Ramos voiced Mr. Piranha. 😁
And I am still looking for MV Mothra's voice actress while my MV Godzilla's voice actor is Keith David.
Well anyway, have fun reading it!

shittiest thing about this whole svt using ai thing is that you know they won't hear any criticism whatsoever because fans are obsessed with telling them they can do no wrong. like everyone is doing now they'll just brush it off as "haters" and not genuine criticism and concern and fans wanting a quality product and not whatever shitshow this is

Minie's honest reviews: Pentagon's Dr. BeBe
Requested by @lovingchangkyun
youtube
Song: 8/10 Honestly it's so good?! It's really catchy and the vocals??? The high notes??? I'm not surprised because it's Pentagon but oh boy this is my first time listening to this song and it's amazing
Concept: 9/10 Anyone who knows me will absolutely understand this rating. I love, love dark concepts. It was so well done
MV: 7/10 Related to the concept, it was actually quite nice to look at! Nice visuals and the imagery was nice. The lighting gets a bonus point
Line distribution: ?/10 I couldn't find an accurate one and I'm not sure I can tell the members' voices apart that well, although the song seemed very vocals-focused, not as much light shone on the rap aspect
Choreography: 9/10 Honestly wow? It's both elegant and intense at the same time??? How did they manage?! +1000 points to whoever choreographed this seriously
Outfits: 10/10 The black outfits. There, I said everything that needed to be said truly... also pairing that style with the blindfold near the beginning of the MV... I'm deceased frankly
Overall enjoyment: 9/10 Why did nobody ever tell me how good this was sooner? Honestly Pentagon moots it's your fault for not letting me know such a gem existed, it's not usually my kind of song but for whatever reason the high notes haunt me and the instrumental goes hard
*Note: If there is any release, new or old, K-Pop or K-Band, that you would like me to review, please leave a comment (or DM me that works too)~

TRACK REVIEW: Taste - Sabrina Carpenter
★★★★☆  - 4 stars
"You'll just have to taste me when he's kissing you."
Tumblr media
In Sabrina Carpenter's Taste, she combines pop, rock and indie elements with her usual witty lyricism to form a powerful pop masterpiece.
Throughout the song's clever yet playful lyrics, she discusses the profound impact she left on her ex-boyfriend, addressing a love triangle and the complex nature of relationships overall. She comments on how even though they've broken up she made him a better person, using the metaphor of taste to symbolise how elements of her impact on him will remain and be noticeable despite her moving on. The drumbeat accompanying Carpenter's vocals creates a relaxed atmosphere, alongside the occasional "la la la's" which cleverly show Sabrina's laidback take on the situation.
With Sabrina's angelic vocals and the track's creative lyrics, Taste is certainly going to be a hit.

The Astronaut, single by Jin
Note: It’s been a long time and here I am, still stuck in ‘The Astronaut’. Gonna share some personal opinion on this and I swear, I’ll shut up.
Rating - 10/10
“A life, a sparkle in your eyes, Heaven coming through, And I love you.”
Where do I even start? I feel like no matter how much I rant, my love for this song can never be expressed in words. The lyrics, the music and the mv, all of these have their own charms. I just absolutely love it.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with its lyrics. I love the references of the cosmos used in this song. If Jin was an asteroid drifting all alone, Army was his heaven, a safe place. When Jin is in darkness, Army shines upon him like the Milky way. “You became my universe” is enough to prove how Jin dedicates his life for us and how we have become everything for him. We all know from the previous solo works of Jin that he is someone who constantly doubts himself and it is the love of the Army that brings him back from despair.
Isn’t it amazing how Jin, and all the BTS members in general, show how grateful they are to us? I am also grateful to them for making us feel loved. This song directly touches the heart. It is, in fact, the best kind of love letter one can ever wish for. It is a song that feels too personal. I feel like it was meant for me, as an individual. That’s one of the best achievements of this masterpiece.
Tumblr media
The music video is so cute. Jin, representing an alien crashing on earth, who apparently doesn’t have any emotions. The little girl of his neighborhood plays with him often and he unconsciously grows empathy within himself. On the day his spaceship is finally leaving to go back to space, Jin realizes that it is the earth that is his true home and comes back.
Here are a lot of indications. For a start, the little girl represents Armys. If Jin was someone without dreams, the Armys made him want to dream. Just like the little girl helped him with the development of emotions. Again, though unconsciously, when the alien Jin decided to leave for good, he left his helmet with the girl so that she doesn’t hurt herself riding the bike alone without him around. As our Jin was leaving to join the military, he had left his precious song and along with it, a lot of content for the Armys to enjoy in his absence. Even the morse code for ARMY was literally tattooed on his neck in the mv. Just like the alien Jin realizing that the girl was his true home and coming back to her at the end, our Jin also promises us his coming back after serving his time in the military. Hence, I love the music video so much and I keep coming back to it time after time.
Tumblr media
I will forever be grateful to Coldplay for accepting Jin’s request and making this song a reality. They are the sweetest souls ever. It shows how a real artist can recognize and appreciate another great artist. I love the bond between Jin and them, especially with Chris. It makes me immensely proud how far Jin has come. While he considered Coldplay as his idol in his youth, he is now collaborating with them side by side. Both of their styles of music are evident in this track. As if two beautiful melodies came together to become a better version of themselves.
I can’t talk about the Astronaut without bringing up the concert in Argentina. Here’s another reason for me to be grateful to Coldplay. They really understood the significance of this song for the Armys as a goodbye gift from Jin and that’s why they decided to have him at their personal concert. I could see the admiration in their eyes when Jin was performing. I also enjoyed the part where Chris opened his arms for Jin to run and embrace him while he sweetly kissed him on the cheek. This interaction was everything. When, both Chris and Jin were singing together to my favorite part and they couldn’t help but laugh in between, we could see Jin’s sparkling eyes so clearly. It shows how overwhelmed he was with emotion. I won’t lie about crying to that part myself.
Tumblr media
Finally, the “I love you” part deserves its own paragraph. Would you think that it wasn’t intentional of Jin to finish his last live performance for the Armys by saying that he loves us? I think not. Jin is a genius and an absolute sweetheart for that. The reactions of the Armys at the concert was genuine. They looked so happy and sad at the same time. And I love you too, my Jinnie.
I am fully absorbed in this piece of art. It has become a part of me and I am totally obsessed with it now. I thank you, Jin, for making me feel this way. This work of yours is going to live in my heart rent free for the rest of my life.

Fri(end)s- observations and review
Acting-
As usual, Tae has done a great job at acting. But the actress's acting was just.. meh. Makes me really appreciate IU. And not just that, Tae's acting was fine but they literally had no chemistry. That happens when you don't take time to know your coworker. IU and Tae are great friends and great actors and hence their chemistry works so well. Tae is able to create chemistry with anyone as long as he knows them (as seen with bts members and in his acting works too), even when the other side isn't good at it. But this time, somehow zero chemistry.
Somebody pointed out that there was an 'intimacy director' at the MV set too. Seems like they directed intimacy for all couples except the main one.
Storyline-
From the teasers, I already knew the storyline was going to be fun and interesting. I think it's pretty obvious that the scenes and environment we witness throughout the MV was from Tae's POV.
At first, he perceived that everyone else was happy because they were in love and had partners. In his second life, he was in love (or so he thought) and somehow all his problems in life were non existent. And he stopped noticing other people. So this time we saw the actual state of people around him and no one was actually completely happy, because relationships take work and not all relationships are meant to be. But Tae doesn't know that yet, because he smiles smugly at the camera with the girl by his side.
Tumblr media
(somebody teach this girl to act, i swear to god)
And then he dies for a second time, but this time, he is smiling. Because he has realised something finally.
Tumblr media
In his 3rd life, he wakes up beside himself (selfcest lol). But basically it means self-love. The moral being that a relationship won't change your fate. And that people who depend on a relationship for all their happiness actually lack self-love.
This time he wakes up with a knowing smile. And you know what, he probably knows he won't die this time because he won't be distracted by any strong emotions of love or despair. He'll focus on himself and he'll notice the speeding car before crossing the road.
Audio-
Honestly, I expected that the song would be 100% english. We already know that Tae is heavily inspired by a lot of western artists and loves to sing in English. The song is good and has some new vocal flavours from him. And it does sound inspired from a couple of songs I've heard before. I can't remember which ones, but definitely inspired. I loved the outro and overall the song is pleasing to the ears.
Edit(+) I appreciate Tae for trying a new cadence and tempo. The words are fast paced in this song and for a non-English speaker, he did very well.
Lyrics-
He's not the writer. But he definitely knows what he's singing about. I'm seeing vminnies make endless connections and tbh, i like seeing theories lol. As a lore and as a story, it's interesting.
